Carl D. McRell - March 7, 2003

The funeral service of Carl D. McRell, 76, of 203 W. Fifth St., Minonk, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Minonk, with the Rev. Daniel Gansch-Boythe officiating. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, and for one hour before the funeral Tuesday at the church.

He died at 9:05 a.m. Friday (March 7, 2003) at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

He was born on Sept. 8, 1926, in Toulon, a son of Ernest and Ethel Wells McRell. He married Alma "Babe" Danekas on Dec. 30, 1949, at Minonk. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Dennis (Betty) McRell, Kalispell, Montana; Martha "Marty" (Carlos) Bahler, Fairbury; and Carla (Kenneth) Nelson, Wenona; grandchildren, Michelle Schaffer, Melinda Bahler, Kristina and Courtney Nelson and Zachary McRell; three great-grandsons; four brothers, Floyd, Charles and John McRell, all of Toulon, and William McRell, Hillsdale; and one sister, Anna Mae Hendricks, Toulon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Mr. McRell, a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, was a truck driver for many years, having retired in 1989. His family was very important to him and he will be greatly missed.
